Bridging is the term used for when a Cub Scout graduates from Cub Scouts as a Webelos II (in 5th grade) and “bridges” into Boy Scouts.
Bridging is entirely optional in that a boy can graduate from Cub Scouts and elect not to join Boy Scouts. Additionally, each boy can bridge into whichever Boy Scout “troop” he desires. There is no rule that says a boy in Pack 731 (as a Cub Scout) has to bridge into Troop 731 (as a Boy Scout). It is an individual decision made by the boy himself.
Don't worry, he'll be ready.
Pack 731 bridges at the end of March because the Boy Scout troops in the area begin their activities for entering Boy Scouts in late April/early May.
